Estimate your cost

Build your estimate in real time.

Choose how you'd like your shipment valued, add any high-value items, and compare every deductible. Your estimate updates as you go.

Step 1

How should we value your shipment?

Both give the same protection. The difference is how the value is calculated.

lbs
Base coverage at $15/lb: $0  ·  actual weight is confirmed after pickup
Step 2

Add high-value items

Any single item, pair, or set worth $2,500 or more (art, jewelry, silver, antiques, collections). These are declared separately and added to your coverage.

Tip: items under $2,500 belong with your general goods, not here.
Step 3

Choose your deductible

A higher deductible lowers your premium. Every option updates live.

Watch first

A short video on your coverage.

UNIRISC put together a quick overview of how coverage works for your move. Give it a watch before you decide.

Two coverage options

Same protection. Two ways to value your shipment.

The difference is simply how the value of your shipment is calculated, which determines your premium.

Option 1

Weight-Based (Lump Sum)

  • Final net weight of your shipment × $15 per pound.
  • Simply sign the application and choose a deductible.
  • High-value items ($2,500+) are listed separately and added on top.
  • Simple, fast, and ensures the full shipment is covered.
Example: 3,000 lbs × $15 = $45,000 of coverage
Option 2

Valued Inventory

  • You list every item and assign each a replacement value.
  • All items must be listed, only listed items are covered.
  • Best for smaller or lower-value shipments.
  • Takes more time but can reduce your premium.
Example: Your itemized list totals $75,000, so you insure $75,000
What it costs

Your premium follows your deductible.

Premium is based on the total value you insure and the deductible you choose. A higher deductible lowers your premium.

DeductibleRatePremium on $45,000
$0$38 per $1,000 (3.8%)$1,710
$250$30 per $1,000 (3.0%)$1,350
$500$27 per $1,000 (2.7%)$1,215
$1,000$24 per $1,000 (2.4%)$1,080

Self-pack or self-load shipment? A Named Perils (total loss only) option is available at $22 per $1,000 with zero deductible. Ask your move coordinator if this applies to you.

Common questions

Insurance, answered.

The essentials most clients ask about. For anything specific to your shipment, ask the assistant or reach your coordinator.

What counts as a high-value item?
Any single item, pair, or set valued at $2,500 or more, such as fine art, jewelry, silver, antiques, or collections. These must be declared separately with proof of value (an appraisal, receipt, or bill of sale less than six years old), a condition report from origin, and photos before packing. Under weight-based coverage, an undeclared high-value item is limited to a $2,500 maximum settlement.
How long do I have to file a claim?
For the standard All-Risk program, you have 90 days from the date of delivery. For Named Perils / Total Loss coverage, it is 45 days from arrival at destination. For deliveries into self-storage, a written claim is required within 30 days. Only one claim may be filed per shipment.
What do I need to do at delivery?
Note any missing boxes and any damage on the delivery paperwork at the time of delivery, and have the delivering representative sign. Failing to document loss or damage at delivery can prevent recovery on a claim. Missing item claims should be filed immediately after delivery.
Are owner-packed boxes covered?
Owner-packed goods (PBO) are not covered for breakage, scratching, denting, chipping, staining, tearing, or missing items. For full protection, items should be professionally packed. Named Perils / Total Loss coverage is strongly suggested for self-packed shipments.
What if my goods go into storage?
Coverage applies for 365 days from the day of packing until delivery. If your goods will be in storage beyond 365 days, notify your coordinator so a Storage in Transit premium can be added to keep coverage in place.
